Spreading the Joy of Soccer: Our Incredible Program with PS 373 at PS 48

At the Son of a Pitch Foundation, we believe soccer has the power to bring people together, spark joy, and create lasting memories — and this spring, we experienced that firsthand through an incredible program we had the honor to lead.

Over the past five weeks, the Son of a Pitch Foundation was blessed with the opportunity to collaborate with the outstanding staff and remarkable students from PS 373 at PS 48. Every Friday, the playground buzzed with excitement and laughter as we shared our love for the game in the most beautiful way possible.

Each session was packed with energy as we played a variety of games, kicked soccer balls of all shapes and sizes, and raced through thrilling relay challenges. But beyond the games, what truly stood out was the pure joy and sense of community that filled the air. Every high-five, every cheer, and every shared laugh reminded us why we do what we do.

At the Son of a Pitch Foundation, we firmly believe that soccer is for everyone — regardless of age, skill level, or the circumstances life may present. Our mission is to create spaces where every child can experience the joy, freedom, and connection that soccer brings. Working with the incredible students of PS 373 reinforced that mission in ways we’ll never forget.

The smiles we saw, the friendships we built, and the memories we created will stay with us long after the final whistle blew. We are so grateful to have been a part of their Fridays, and we can only hope that we brought as much happiness to their lives as they brought to ours.

This was more than just soccer — it was a celebration of inclusion, passion, and the unbreakable spirit of these amazing kids. And we can’t wait to do it again.
